Skincare Lab - Our Favorite DIY Mask Recipes

You know what they say: when in doubt, put a face mask on. Bad day at work? Face Mask. Massive spot on your chin before a date? Face Mask. You ate an entire pack of cookies? Face Mask. In the words of Beyoncé, “If you liked it then you should have put a... face mask on it.”

Known and loved for providing an intensive treatment in just a few minutes, masks are an essential in your skincare cabinet.
A Face Mask can be many things - a weekly treat, a quick fix or just an exquisite moment of self-care to fully embrace and celebrate.

The type of mask you use usually depends on your skin type but using one mask alone is often not enough to cater for all your skin’s demands. Your time at home is the perfect moment to experiment with different ingredients and learn what your skin likes. That is why today we want to share some of our best, tried and tested, Do-It-yourself Mask recipes. Get ready to create!

We’ve asked The Glow’s very own founder Anita Bechloch’s for her favorite at-home face mask tips and tricks

-
“The base of my masks is usually our Cleansing Clay, which is made up of fine pink clay, hibiscus powder, aloe vera, papaya, and apple extracts as well as white willow bark. That alone has enough ingredients to slough away dead skin cells, promote cell turnover, and refine the complexion. but then comes the fun part: customizing with the rest of the range, according to your skin’s everchanging needs.
As my skin tends to be dry and sensitive, my go-to recipe is to mix the clay with full-fat organic yogurt and a spoonful of Manuka Honey.”

We asked Odacité for their signature diy face mask. They told us all about their favorite recipe, and the one product they just can’t live without…
-
“You want to achieve soft, supple and glowing skin? Odacite’s Synergie 4 Mask has four properties to make sure all of your bases are covered. The powder mask will work to detox, peel, brighten and firm when mixed with water to form a paste. however, we can enhance this process by adding other wonderful ingredients that can be found in most households.

And add…

A tablespoon of Wheat Grass Juice, half a teaspoon of spirulina and a teaspoon of Green Tea Powder.

Wheatgrass contains chlorophyll which works to deeply invigorate the skin. Spirulina is a type of algae and contains huge antioxidant power that encourages a beautiful glow to the skin. Green Tea extract offers many benefits when used in skincare. It contains potent antioxidants which work to energise and refresh the skin.

And last but not least, we’re thrilled to introduce you to Activist’s very own customized face mask recipe straight from the brand founders.
-
It all starts with...

1 tsp. Activist Mānuka Honey 850+ MGO

Optional Additions:

Cinnamon (helps boost circulation)
Spirulina (perfect for sensitive skin)
Matcha (packed with antioxidants and anti-aging benefits)
Rosewater (anti-inflammatory)

Dampen your face lightly with lukewarm water to make the application easier. Spread the Mānuka Honey all over your face with clean fingers. Let it sit for a minimum of 20 minutes, up to 1 hour.
Rinse with warm water and pat dry. I even like to leave a little of the Mānuka Honey on my face to soak in overnight. Apply this mask once or twice per week for the best results.
