Superwoman Amy Komorowski

Amy is a men's groomer to the stars! Her client list includes Andrew Garfield, Adam Driver, Willem Defoe and Angus Cloud. Her job involves getting them ready for photo shoots, TV appearances and the red carpet. Safe to say -  Amy knows a thing or two about skin care and looking your best while keeping natural.
She is getting ready to launch her own line CIRCA 1970 soon with fellow men’s groomer Barbara Guillaume.

What did you do before you became a men’s groomer and how has it helped inform how you do that you do now?

I worked in television production. My first job out of college was at VH1 as a production assistant and eventually producer. This is where I was first introduced to the world of Fashion Week and hair and makeup artists. Life in production is similar to that on set as a groomer. It taught me to be organized, endure long hours and people management skills.

What’s been the most surprising element of working for yourself?

Working for yourself means you actually work more and don’t get many holidays off. But when you love what you do, you have a passion inside that drives you so it remains fun and fresh.

What’s the secret to longevity?

A strong work ethic and finding new ways to be inspired.

What are some daily non-negotiables for you when it comes to taking care of yourself?

Working out. I never stray from working out, it’s just a part of my lifestyle. Even if I miss a week because of work, I get right back at it. Any movement is necessary.

How do you rotate, test and decide which products make it into your own routine?

I’m lucky to receive so many wonderful new products. I definitely have my favorites but always open to trying new things, and then falling in love with them! Scent is a huge factor and of course if it works and fits into my hair and skin needs.

What other brands, founders or personalities do you find inspiring?

I find women who start something new at a later stage in life or find new ways of doing things super inspiring. I really admire Norma Kamali.

How do you structure your work day to help get things done while staying calm?

I actually get more done the busier I am. I don’t really have a set schedule because of work, but I always wake up super early and give myself at least 2 hours of “me time”.

Who do you turn to for advice, support and help?

This might come across as arrogant but I actually rarely turn to others for advice or support. I’ve always relied on my inner voice and gut to guide me and in all honesty blocks the “noise” so I can make the best decisions for myself and my family.

Do you have a morning routine that you stick to every day?

I always dry brush, shower, apply my skincare routine and take all of my supplements and potions. Haha it’s a full time job!

What do you do to unwind and relax in the morning?

If I’m not rushing to work I like to putter around the house and workout around 10am. That’s the perfect start of the day for me.

What’s your favorite meal to eat?

I love a cozy meal of roasted chicken and mash potatoes.

What’s your number one beauty “secret”?

Drinking lots of water, but that’s not really a secret. I love facials at Tracie Martyn and from The Beauty Sandwich (Ivan Pol).

Where do you go to relax, rejuvenate and recharge?

Anywhere near the water.

What’s your favorite travel destination?

Tuscany

Besides your own product (launching so soon), what products do you swear by?

I love Furtuna Skin, Tracie Martyn face wash and moisturizer, LaMer Moisturizing Cream for winter months, ZIIP device, Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream and Harklinikken hair products.
