What did you do before you founded this brand and how has it helped inform how you do what you do now?

Before starting Shiva Rose Beauty I was an actress and writer. My passion was the theater though I also worked in the film and TV industry. My favorite part of that world was the aspect of storytelling and creating characters. I try to do that now with my products and the ingredients. I like to weave in visions of folklore and exotic faraway places through the unique ingredients that are now the characters in this tale.

What’s been the most surprising element of starting your own business?

The most surprising elements are two fold. One is how challenging it can be especially when it comes to packaging and sourcing clean, high vibrational ingredients. Secondly, how grateful I am that others also like the formulas I create, and see the benefits that I do from Holistic beauty.

What's your secret strategy to Longevity?

I would say good health mentally, physically and spiritually are essential to longevity. I feel we should get most of our nutrients for beautiful skin from food, though using supplements is also necessary since our foods can be depleted of minerals. I take certain things daily to help boost antioxidants and promote a high vibration. I am really into Methylated B lozenges and NAD right now.

What are some daily non-negotiables for you when it comes to taking care of yourself?

I must do my morning tea and kundalini meditation. Later after the day in the evening I take a bath using my salts and body scrub. These sacred moments in the day help me fill my cup so that I can be full enough to fill the others around me. Women were made to receive, our bodies are actually vessels to take in and then bestow. I had to learn the art of receiving, and that that is crucial for optimal health and self love. In my book Whole Beauty I dive deep into specific rituals and practices that helped me heal my body.

How do you implement your own products into your routine?

I use my Rose Face oil for a face massage either with a gua sha or my hands. I always mist The Radiant Rose Water to hydrate my cells.

I use the Blue Butter Balm to cleanse my skin in the bath and use my Golden Sol Body Butter after to bestow love to my limbs.

What other brands, founders or personalities do you find inspiring?

I like making tonics from Anima Mundi for staying nourished. I like my dear friend Sophia Rose brand La Abeja for elixirs and herbal remedies.

What website or IG page do you visit daily for input and to stay up to date?

I like to check in on House Inhabit and Create and Elevate both on instagram. Otherwise I like to tune into astrology reports or Rama Yoga TV.

How do you structure your work day to help get things done while staying calm?

Well to be honest staying structured is not my strong suit. I actually would love to work on that. Being a creative person, I really need some freedom to be able to dream and be in nature. I do, though try to use my daughter's schedule to help inform mine. While she is in school is when I will go in my studio to fulfill orders and work. Playing mantras helps me stay calm. They are scientifically proven to help our brains get into a more inspired place.

Who do you turn to for advice, support and help?

I suppose I will call my dear sisters Nitsa Citrine and Lacy Philips when I need some advice or to vent. I also go for walks with my shepherd when i need to work out a problem. It's incredible when you ask nature or source for  signs for an answer to an issue, and then receive them. I do believe we have guides and angels that help us when we ask for help. The key is to send an invitation for their guidance.

Do you have a morning routine that you stick to every day?

I practice Cha Dao (The Way of Tea) every morning to set my connection to myself and spirit. I then will do a short kundalini kryia. Then for my skin regime I spray Radiant Rose Water, and add Strawberry Serum and Glow Balm beneath any makeup I may be wearing that day. The Glow Balm gives you a luminous, non makeup sparkle through the day and the serum plumps up the cells.

What do you do to unwind and relax in the evening?

In the evening I try to unwind with a bath and I play mantras with a warm cup of tea or golden milk. I dry brush my skin before the bath. I always try to massage my feet before bed with my Golden Sol Body butter. I also always take magnesium and melatonin since these are essential for beauty and health.

What’s your favorite meal to eat?

Lately I have been cooking so much but I do miss Persian food from LA or a true Italian fresh made pasta. For my own cooking I make pretty yummy salads with a dressing that has olive oil, apple cider vinegar, a touch of maple syrup, tahini, garlic, a touch of braggs amino, and lots of lemon. I have an amazing pesto recipe I created years ago, the trick being to sauté the garlic and pine nuts before blending with fresh basil, cheese and olive oil.

What’s your number one beauty “secret”?

I feel beauty truly comes from the inside ~ The thoughts we think, the lives we live . . . it’s a cumulative process. That said I do think bone broth for collagen (you can’t really absorb the supplements that are being sold everywhere. The molecules are too big), ghee for juiciness in skin, glutathione, clean pure water, organic unprocessed foods and clearing our liver . Much of our skin issues are caused by livers that are sluggish and tired. I am creating a supplement for beauty so I hope it can help somehow.

Where do you go to relax, rejuvenate and recharge?

I go to nature to recharge. I used to go to Kauai once a year but with the pandemic it has been harder. I hope to go soon to swim in that beautiful sea and get recharged. For now I go to a local vortex called Enchanted rock. Climbing that large rock rejuvenates me and connects me to my great mother. Also in the summer I swim in the rivers here in Hill Country. Water is key for me and connects me to my feminine.

What’s your favorite travel destination ?

My travel destinations for a decade used to be Kauai and Tuscany. lately I am yearning for the Yucatan and someday perhaps Tahiti or back to Africa. I loved the land there. Kauai though is my true love. I dream of building a small cottage on my land there.

Besides your own incredible products, what other Muse & Heroine products do you swear by?

I adore all the products by In Fiore and the polishes by Karolin Van Loon. I want to also try the brushes by Ruhi. I loves many brands at Muse & Heroine - my dream store.
