Now sit back, relax, and enjoy the exclusive interview we had the pleasure of creating with Wildcrafted Organics’ founder, Nicole O’Sullivan.
Dear Nicole, What inspired you to launch your brand, Wildcrafted Organics?

I didn't have great skin in my early twenties, I didn't have acne but I always seemed to have a blemish here and there and it was enough to make me feel embarrassed and long for a clear complexion. I started studying Botanical Medicine & Nutrition and was honestly totally in awe at the incredible healing power of plants. I switched to using natural products and there was a
huge improvement in my skin. Years later after moving to the beautiful country town of Mudgee with my family in my early forties I started wildcrafting my own skincare products and selling them at the markets. I had a very strong feeling at the time that this was what I was meant to do, this was my destiny.

When it comes to your creations, botanicals play a massive role. Where do you source your ingredients from? What are your favourite ingredients to formulate with?

I source my ingredients from all over the world. I prefer wild botanicals over organically grown, cultivated plants for their incredibly high nutrient profiles but it is more then that - there is an essence to ‘wild’ that I am drawn to. Wild Plants develop differently as they must survive in the harshest of environments, it is here that they don’t just survive they thrive where other plants could not exist. They do this by producing extremely high levels of antioxidants and nutrients – it is these that make them so attractive to use in my skincare formulations. A prime example of this is Kakadu Plum which contains the highest vitamin C level of any plant. It is important to point out here that we only use sustainably sourced wild plants and in some cases these are now cultivated to protect and sustain appropriate levels in the wild.

What are some ingredients we should definitely avoid in our skincare routine?

Petrolatum/mineral oils is like putting glad wrap on your skin and completely void of any nutrients. Parabens - some are oestrogen mimicking and have been associated with breast cancer. Also Parfum which can contain a plethora of chemicals.

We know it’s almost impossible to choose but… what is the holy grail product of your line?

Just one? The Wild Berry is the ultimate facial in a bottle when used as your weekly masque - it refines and deep cleans pores while exfoliating and plumping skin cells.

What would be your perfect Wildcrafted Organics skincare routine?
