Captured by Northern California's beauty, Dr. Janine wandered redwood forests and coastal pathways as a child, connecting deeply to nature. Learning to respect it, and receive her gifts with immense respect.

 

When she was faced with her own breast health crisis and found a lack of effective, yet non-invasive options she set out to develop her own solution. She then shared her formulas with women at her medical clinic.

Your brand’s philosophy is centered around the culture of Chinese medicine, and you’re a Chinese medicine doctor yourself. How did you become interested in this discipline and what is it about it that fascinates you the most?

I became interested in Chinese medicine while looking for options to heal my own cervical dysplasia, a precancerous condition in which abnormal cell growth occurs on the surface lining of the cervix or endocervical canal, most often affecting women between the ages of 25 and 35.

When I was introduced to Chinese medicine, it resonated with my own personal lifestyle philosophy of living in balance with nature. It also provided a structure with which to create a holistic approach to healing. 

Today, I continue to be fascinated by the depth of knowledge that has been passed down for thousands of years based on the natural cycles within our own body as well as that of our environment. Everything is interconnected. My life and career became a ritual of exploring the many approaches to create balance in the body. 

What’s your favorite practice from Chinese medicine and why?

I love that Chinese medicine looks at the whole person, including details such as where a person was born, where they currently live, lifestyle habits, emotional patterns and much more. Practitioners in this tradition, like myself, take this information and create a plan to guide the body back into balance. We look at what caused the current issue, reaching back in time often, to find the root. I love this aspect of my practice. 

 What drove you to start your own brand?

When faced with a lack of effective, non-invasive options for my own breast health crisis, I slowly created my own. I offered the breast oil that I had used on a patient in my medical practice here in New Mexico. She had suffered from calcified implants for eight years due to a physical injury. After using my oil, she returned in 30 days completely pain-free and asked for some bottles to share with her girlfriends. At that point, I needed a label. That is how it started. My brand has since expanded into other products, every one of which originated from my clinical practice. I became known for intimate wellness. 

What advice would you give to any woman who’s looking to start her own business?

I would tell her to tap into what it is that you are passionate about and follow that feeling. Remember that feeling, because the path can be exhausting and, at times, you will need to remember why you are doing it. There were so many areas I had no clue about and sometimes I still don’t. Secondly, ask questions. Find out what has worked for other people in business. Ask about everything from marketing approaches to manufacturing processes. Lastly, allow things to evolve. What worked in the beginning may not work at the stage you are at now or where you want to be in six months, so stay flexible and you will do well. 

 The breast is an area often neglected by women, where did you get the idea to create a product specific for this part of the body?

I created the breast oil formula specifically because of my own personal need to treat my mastitis while nursing my daughter, who is now twenty. I continued to use it weekly as it provided me a self-care option that promoted overall breast health. It gave me comfort and still does. To know I am being proactive and keeping the channels running through my breast tissue healthy—brings me great pride and peace. 

Can you give us some insider’s tip on how to use and make the most out of the Rejuvenating Breast Oil and Libido Vita?
