Superwoman Michelle Ranavat

Michelle Ranavat is a force to be reckoned with - juggling mom life with having grown her little start up to a can’t-keep-this-in-stock skin care brand. We adore her positive and honest approach to business, her incredible Ayurveda influenced skin care products and contagious passion and drive.

What did you do before you founded Ranavat and how has it helped inform how you do what you do now?

I had a few different careers from working in the pharma industry to Investment banking! I feel that all of these roles have played such an important role in creating RANAVAT.  I learned about quality, product development, R&D- and those have been critical components to my current journey.

What’s been the most surprising element of starting your own business?

How friendly the industry is! The beauty industry is composed of super bright and ambitious people and they happen to be so friendly!

What's your secret strategy to Longevity?

Balance is key- and knowing that balance is always a work in progress.  Being a mom but also running a business requires a lot of juggling and I know there are some days where I will be doing both or more of one or the other!

What are some daily non-negotiables for you when it comes to taking care of yourself?

Working out! I love how I feel after a great morning workout and now I can’t live without it.

How do you implement your own products into your routine?

I am very loyal to RANAVAT and only use my line (along with a few products that are in development by me!) I start with the Cream Cleanser, then our hydrating Jasmine Mist and spend a few minutes with the Saffron Serum – warming it up on my skin and massaging my face. If it's cooler out, I will finish with the Bakuchi Crème.  My weekly ritual includes hair oiling, the Saffron Masque and a Kansa Wandmassage if I have time!  The Facial Polish is incredible and I tend to swap out the cleanser with this treatment a few times a week!

What other brands, founders or personalities do you find inspiring?

I find so much inspiration from our beauty community including Eva the founder of Maude, Jhu Ryu of Hero Cosmetics and Susan Yara of Naturium.

What website or IG page do you visit daily for input and to stay up to date?

NYTimes!

How do you structure your work day to help get things done while staying calm?

My AM is a workout + morning calls with London or EU usually (M&H Included!) Between 9-12 I use to catch up on emails and last minute calls – I call this my “work block”.  The afternoon is for more meetings!  I love having a work block during my most productive hours because I find it so hard to respond to emails and keep up with work if I’m on Zoom all day!

Who do you turn to for advice, support and help?

My family. My parents have been so supportive and I am so thankful to have them as sounding boards for me.

Do you have a morning routine that you stick to every day?

My AM routine is usually a workout + coffee and I drive my boys to school in the morning. It's not so calm but I genuinely love this part of my day.

What do you do to unwind and relax in the evening?

I love a nice kansa wand massage, hair oiling and really just spending time with my family. It’s simple, but I find that simple is best.

What’s your favorite meal to eat?

Dessert

What’s your number one beauty “secret”?

Saffron!! I love the brightening power of saffron – the brightening serum and saffron masque have really changed my skin.

Where do you go to relax, rejuvenate and recharge?

My bed! I don’t get much sleep, so something as basic as sleeping in my own bed feels amazing.

 What’s your favorite travel destination?

London, India and of course ITALY!

Besides your own incredible products, what other Muse & Heroine products do you swear by?

I really love the jasmine of In Fiore! I would love for Julie to bring back the Jasmine solid perfume!!
